HyperTempo App Privacy Notice
Last updated: 10 October 2026
This policy explains what the HyperTempo app collects about you, why, who helps us look after it, how long we keep it, and the rights you have over it. Please read it with our terms of use.
The short version
- We collect what HyperTempo needs to build your training plan, adjust it as you go, and keep your account working.
- Injuries and recovery are health data. We only keep them with your explicit consent, and you can withdraw it at any time.
- We don't sell your data, we don't show ads, and we never share your data with anyone for their own marketing.
- We gather statistics on how the app is used, to improve it. They never include your name, email, location or health data, and you can turn them off.
- You can export or delete your data in the app whenever you like.
Who we are
HyperTempo is provided by George Woodman, a sole trader based in the UK ("HyperTempo", "we" or "us"). We're the controller of your personal data: we decide how it's used, and we're responsible for it under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018).
You can reach us at [email protected], or write to us at Cherry Wood Lodge, Burtle, Bridgwater, Somerset, TA7 8NF, United Kingdom. Our registration number with the Information Commissioner's Office is ZC264690.
What we collect
Your account
- Your name and email address.
- Your password, if you use one. We only store a scrambled (hashed) version of it, which nobody can read back, us included.
- If you sign in with Google: the name, email address and profile photo Google shares with your permission.
- If you sign in with Apple: your name and email address. If you choose Hide My Email, we get a private address from Apple that forwards to yours.
- Your profile photo, if you add one. The app only reads the photo you pick.
- Your plan, such as the beta year, and when you agreed to our health and safety notice and to keeping health data.
We never get your Google or Apple password.
Your training
- Your answers when you set up HyperTempo: your lifting and running experience, the equipment you have, the days and time you can train, your units, and any event you're training for (its type, name, date and your goal time).
- Your running paces and race times.
- Your plan, and what you log: workouts, sets, weights, runs, how hard sessions felt, notes, routines, your own exercises, and settings such as rest timers and exercise swaps.
HyperTempo doesn't use your location. Runs are timed and logged in the app, not tracked by GPS.
Your health
When you log an injury or a niggle, HyperTempo can adapt your plan around it (recovery mode). That means keeping:
- the injuries you log: where they are, how bad they are and how they're going
- your recovery check-ins, such as pain levels and notes
- any advice from a specialist that you note down
This is health data, which has extra protection in law. We ask for your explicit consent the first time you log an injury, and keep nothing about injuries until you agree. We only use it to adapt your plan and check in with you. We never sell it, and we never share it with anyone for their own use.
You can withdraw your consent at any time, in Settings → Health data. This ends recovery mode and deletes your injury notes, check-ins and specialist's advice from your account and from every phone you're signed in on.
Feedback
What you send us in Help and feedback. When you report a problem, you can choose to include your app version, your phone's make and model and its system, to help us fix it.
How you use the app
HyperTempo gathers statistics on how the app is used, to see what works and what to improve:
- which screens you open, and which features you use, such as finishing a workout or logging a run, with a few details about them, such as the kind of workout
- when the app opens and closes
- the app's version, and your phone's make, model and system
These are linked to a random ID for your account, never to your name or email. They never include your location, health data or anything you write. Our analytics provider doesn't keep your IP address with them.
This is on when you start using HyperTempo, and you can turn it off at any time in Settings → Account → Share usage data. The switch applies to the phone you set it on.
Technical information
When the app talks to our server, the server and Cloudflare (which protects it) see your phone's IP address. Our server keeps logs of requests and sign-ins, which include IP addresses, to keep HyperTempo secure and to fix problems.
If you've allowed it in your phone's settings, Apple and Google share crash reports and app statistics with us. These don't identify you.
On your phone
HyperTempo keeps a copy of your data on your phone, so it works without a connection, and deletes it when you sign out. Reminders are set on your phone itself. The app doesn't use cookies.
Why we use it, and the law that allows it
UK law says we need a reason, a "lawful basis", for each way we use your data:
- To provide HyperTempo: your account, signing in, building and adjusting your plan, keeping your data in step across your phones, and the emails your account needs, such as sign-in codes. This is necessary for our agreement with you (our terms of use).
- Your health data: your explicit consent. You can withdraw it at any time, which doesn't affect what we did with it before.
- Statistics on how the app is used: our legitimate interests, in understanding how HyperTempo is used so we can improve it. The law on storing and reading information on your phone (the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, as amended by the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025) lets us do this without asking first, as long as we tell you clearly and you can easily say no. That's this policy, and the switch in Settings.
- Feedback and support: our legitimate interests, in answering you and improving HyperTempo.
- Security, backups and preventing misuse: our legitimate interests, in keeping HyperTempo and your data safe.
- Meeting the law: when the law requires us to keep or share something.
We don't send marketing emails from the app. If you joined HyperTempo's waiting list on our website, those emails come under the consent you gave there, and each one has a link to unsubscribe.
HyperTempo builds your training plan automatically, from your answers and what you log. It has no legal or similarly significant effect on you, and you can change or skip anything it suggests.
Who helps us
We don't sell your data. These companies provide services we use to run HyperTempo. They only use your data on our instructions, under contracts that protect it:
- Hetzner hosts our server, in Germany. Your account and training data, health data included, are stored there.
- Cloudflare protects our server and delivers traffic to it, and stores our encrypted backups in the EU.
- Brevo sends the emails your account needs, such as sign-in codes.
- PostHog stores the statistics on how the app is used, in the EU.
Google and Apple handle signing in with them, under their own privacy policies. The App Store and Google Play deliver the app, under theirs.
We may also share data when the law requires it, or to protect someone's safety. If HyperTempo moves to a company, such as one we set up to run it, your data would move with it, still under this policy, and we'd tell you first.
Where your data is kept
Our server and backups are in the EU, and so are the statistics on how the app is used. The UK recognises the EU's data protection as adequate.
Cloudflare's network carries traffic through the location nearest you, which may be outside the UK and EU. Wherever any of our providers handle your data outside the UK and EU, they protect it with safeguards that UK law approves, such as the UK's International Data Transfer Addendum or the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
How long we keep it
- Your account and training data: while you have an account. When you delete your account (Settings → Account → Delete account), we delete your data from our server straight away, your photo and feedback included.
- Our backups: copies of deleted data stay in our encrypted backups until they expire, within 3 months. Our host's server backups expire within 7 days. We only use backups to recover from a fault, and if we ever restore one, we delete again any account deleted since it was made.
- Health data: until you withdraw your consent or delete your account.
- Statistics on how the app is used: for up to 1 year. When you delete your account, they stay under a random ID that no longer leads to anyone.
- Server logs: for up to 90 days.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- Get a copy of your data. Settings → Account → Export my data gives you a file of everything in your account, or you can ask us.
- Correct it. You can change most things in the app, or ask us.
- Delete it. Settings → Account → Delete account, or ask us.
- Take it elsewhere. Export my data gives you your data in a common format (JSON) that other apps can read.
- Object, or ask us to restrict how we use it. You can turn off the statistics in Settings → Account → Share usage data.
- Withdraw your consent to keeping health data, in Settings → Health data.
To ask for any of these, email [email protected]. It's free, and we'll reply within a month. We may need to check it's really you first.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, please tell us, and we'll do our best to put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Children
HyperTempo is for people aged 16 and over. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone younger. If you think a child has an account, please tell us and we'll delete it.
Keeping your data safe
- Your data is encrypted on its way between your phone and our server.
- Each account can only reach its own data, which our database enforces.
- Our backups are encrypted, and passwords are only stored hashed.
- Access to our server and database is restricted to us, and the database isn't open to the internet.
No system is perfectly secure. If a breach puts your data at risk, we'll tell you, and the ICO, as the law requires.
Changes to this policy
We'll update this policy as HyperTempo changes, and the date at the top will show when. If a change matters to you, we'll tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
